I have directed documentaries for German and French TV stations ZDF and a r t e and made mainly films on artists and photography. Now, I am working on multimedia art projects, books, and experimental films.

How can one document people? This film is a meditation on the process of documenting subjects with still and movie cameras. The author follows photographer Shelby Lee Adams to the families he portrays in remote places in Kentucky. The film highlights one shot sequence and puts it in context with a variety of reflective commentaries describing the working strategies, influences, and self- reflections of a documentary filmmaker. ANOTHER STRANGER WITH A FILM CAMERA appropriates footage elements of the seminal film THE PICTUREMAN also made by Wolfgang Hastert.
